Charlie Jones

In October 1984, Charlie Jones co-founded Marshall Jones & Co. alongside the late Harry Marshall, establishing a firm rooted in integrity, technical excellence, and personalized service. Over the years, Charlie has been a driving force behind the firm’s growth and success, building a reputation for outstanding client relationships and unmatched technical expertise. His leadership has shaped the firm into one of Atlanta’s most trusted names in accounting, specializing in year-end financial statement audits, tax compliance, research, outsourced accounting, and consulting services.

More About Charlie Jones

Charlie’s professional accomplishments are extensive. Since 1990, he has conducted peer reviews for CPA firms across nine states, working with firms ranging from 5 to 50 professionals. His expertise led to his position on the Georgia Society of CPA’s Review Acceptance Board in 2019, where he continues to influence industry standards. His career spans auditing, contract controllership, systems consulting, and Sarbanes-Oxley internal control compliance for public companies. He has extensive knowledge in real estate, construction, technology, distribution, government, and nonprofit industries, positioning him as a trusted advisor in these sectors.

Beyond the office, Charlie has contributed to his community in many ways. He serves as an elder and Treasurer at Trinity Presbyterian Church and founded the CPA Resource Community, an association of 15 Atlanta CPA firms. He is also a past member of Midtown Rotary, where he held various leadership roles.

Charlie is a graduate of Washington & Lee University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce with an emphasis on accounting. He and his wife, Mary Ellen, a local realtor, are proud parents of two children—one in Brooklyn, a Director of Marketing for a major retailer, and the other in Atlanta, active in residential real estate. Outside of work, Charlie enjoys tennis, golf, traveling, and spending quality time with his four grandchildren.

In 2019, Charlie transitioned ownership of the firm to key employees of the firm, Marshall Jones to Greg Logan, Susan Hopkins, Nathan Lummus, and Kristen Hendricks, with the goal that the firm would continue to thrive and uphold the values upon which it was founded. As part of this transition, the firm was reorganized as Marshall Jones, reflecting a modernized identity while honoring its legacy of excellence. Charlie’s vision for the firm has always been clear: to provide exceptional service with complete integrity and unmatched technical expertise. Charlie remains a partner in the firm primarily providing Peer Review services to other CPA firms.

Today, Marshall Jones is committed to upholding Charlie’s vision, continuing to deliver the same level of excellence, and ensuring the firm remains a trusted partner for clients, just as it has for over 40 years.
